Loss of Driving Licence?

A friends daughter had a minor accident, the police were called and it transpired she had no insurance ( it ran out 24 hours earlier) . She has subsequently been given six points and a 200 pound fine and her licence revoked as she had only been driving 12 months. Does anybody know if you can appeal against this ? UK
