Recliner lopsided and makes funny noises when it rocks?

i have an old recliner and i noticed it was sitting funny. the side the lever is on is lower than the other side. i looked under the mechanism and found a loose spring and another part with a C-shaped curve with a little loop on the end. any1 know of a way to fix my chair?
