When is it okay to hit a cop?

You don't need to hit any 'cop', all you need to do is give him/her a lesson on the oath they took to become a 'cop', as they ALL break their oath, in America it is Constitutional law. In the UK we have Common law, these are our only laws under our Sovereignty. This 'Legal' rubbish they make up, is NOT our laws, so the only way they can be enacted, is if WE agree to them.
