Got caught driving with a permit, can I still get my license before18?

My school caught me driving with only a permit to school. they called a cop and he said I can't get my license until I'm 18. I didn't sign anything go to court, or recieve anything in the mail and its been around 4 weeks. All the guy did was say I couldn't get it until i was 18. My tacher told me I could just go to another DMV. I'm 17 I've had my permit over a year 13 months to be exact. I lived in Connecticut, and btw they never revoked my permit or anything they actually said I could continue driving with an adult. Can i still get my license before 18 ?
