How much time on closing the loop on realtime glucose sensor and insulin pump?

Minimed seems to think it will take 5 years. I can't see how this will be possible on the current system. The pancreas uses insulin and glucagon to stabilize blood sugar levels. A diabetic only uses insulin. To me this seems like having a car with gas and no brakes.
