Japanese - Please look at the description?

That's the case with a lot of Japanese verbs that have homophones, because the verb readings are purely Japanese, originally they were able to put any Chinese hanzi there to specify the meaning. Especially with the two you pointed out with 直す being to fix or repair things/ideas, and 治す meaning to recover/'fix' and illness or wound.
